Our Purpose
Mt. Zion Baptist Church seeks to make an impact in the lives of all people. Our purpose is to change, challenge and to charge men, women, boys and girls through the preaching and teaching of the word of God in an effort that they would live at a higher level of fruit, faith and fellowship with God and so that they would finish the work HE has sent them to do.
Our Vision
At Mt. Zion Baptist Church our vision is simple: to love, lift and to lead all humanity to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ so that they live a life that would bring God glory.Matt.5:16
Our Pastor
Rev. James Robert Austin Wilson
Rev. James R. A. Wilson was born in Eudora, Arkansas. He attended St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church in Eudora, where he was licensed and ordained, under the leadership of Pastor David L. Green, who is still Rev. Wilson's Father in Ministry.
Rev. Wilson moved to Sherman, TX, in 2009 and attended Progressive Missionary Baptist Church the first night he arrived in town.
Rev. James attended college in Durant, OK, where he obtained his B.S. Degree, and Grayson County College, where he received his Associate's degree. He also spent several years with his passion for helping educate, empower, and to clarify the purpose of young adults at the Boys and Girls Club of Durant, OK, and the Silo I.S.D., where to date he is affectionately known as "Mr. James".
Rev. Wilson currently works at Servita, where he gets to further develop relationships with people he most desires to serve. He is a loving husband and father of three children. In his free time, Rev. James loves to hang out with his family, sing and play instruments, and ride motorcycles.
August 27, 2017, he most graciously accepted the position of pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Denison, TX.
